Left Behind
Half of the world's population currently lives in cities, and within two decades, this figure will increase to 60 per cent. For many, cities offer the opportunity for work and income, education and better living conditions. Cities are also the sites of extraordinary inequality, hosting extremes of wealth and poverty side by side. Dhaka is one of the cities among them, which is the capital of Bangladesh & most densely population city in the world. To provide the accommodation for this large number of populations, it started to build high raising buildings in every corner.
The process of making an area more urban causes the traditional houses breaking down every day. Most of them were built in late 50’s to 80’s. In this modern era, people started to let go the places where they belong, forgetting the memory that they had from their childhood & started to consume what they actually need to be postmodern.
In this old breaking down spaces, i found those memories. Memories which are fading, disappearing, buried & crushed with the dusts. I went to those abandoned places which were breaking down for the past few months, collected the materials & took photograph of those things.
